Gardening day

Today we have spent a lot of time sorting out the school garden with one of my work mates. Mainly sewing seeds and planting fruit bushes.

It really is work in progress there as there is such a lot to do. 2 maternity leaves has meant that is has not had a lot of attention from me  or anyone else for that matter and this year we are really going for it. One of my parents has been a massive help and dug out all of the beds that are so ridden with bind weed they need totally replacing. The bed above is quite exciting as it is our berry bed. raspberries, blackcurrants, goosberries (thanks to morrisons vouchers) red currants and strawberries.

we are sewing seeds this year in cut up toilet rolls so they are easier to plant on for the children. so we will see how that goes! emily and lucy amused themselves for a little while with some shells the found.

We then went to the Garden centre to buy some more seeeds, things we dont have at the moment at school. and a little box for us at home....
Heres hoping for a fruitful year!

What lucky school children to have such a fantastic resource available to them, and a great teacher to help co-ordinate it all.
Looks like a lovely but tiring day.
