Last week saw my cousins little boy turn Three. He is obsessed with Aeroplanes so i thought what better present than an airport play mat. Perfect for landing and taking off.
I realised that i have not taken many photos of the girls cooking in recent month. We do still do lots of cooking there just is not a lot of evidence. This was Banana and honey cake. delicious!
These two tops were for my friend Mary Jayne's little girl Abigail on her second birthday. I loved making the ladybird. The material was from a red scalf i found in the charity shop!
We have been making cafes in the front room.... and i could not photograph all of the dens that Emily makes in a week. It could go on forever!
This is a house warming present that I made for my Step sister who has recently branched out on her own with her children to a new rented house. She is very brave as the situation was not nice. However she is now blessed with a county house with views for miles. I made a selection of items for her home, things that she might not buy as not totally essential but that make a house a home. Pretty girly things like pink cupcake cases, a wooden peace dove, a picture frame, a shopping list pad, some cath Kidston style oven gloves and mugs and 4 love hearts that i made.
Emily got a fabric paint set for her birthday!
We made this little chappy!
oh and also some winter cakes!!
So there we are, our recent makes. There is another one to show, made by Emily but i do not have a photo of it. She has started to sew using the sewing basket we made up for her for christmas. Such a creative little thing.

Emily is Six
Yes my first born little baby is Six. Can you believe how quickly that times has gone?
The first present she opened on her birthday morn was her Birthday crown! She put it straight on and did not take it off all day. Even at school she wore it. Bless her.
We had a lovely day and whilst we were both in school, we spent lunch together and then in the evening we had a birthday tea. Complete with Unicorn cake as requested!
She shared her toys and the opening of them with her sister in such a caring, thoughtful way. Each present was given attention and thank you's were abundant. I am very proud of her.
a couple of weeks ago we had her birthday party in a pottery painting place. The girls loved it. Such a calm and peaceful place.
So all in all Emily has had a lovely birthday and as my Dad said, "now you can find a home for all of these toys and get ready for a load more at christmas!"

Natural History Museum
Today we went to the Natural History Museum in London. We travelled on a train which as you can see from the photo above, was treat in itself!!
Now i have been there before a few times. Once when I won £10,000 for our school in a competition with Woolworths. The prize giving was in one of the rooms in the Natural History Museum and we got to wander around afterwards. The money (which i am still incredibly proud of winning!) went to improve our playground and the "fun run" is still there including all of the parts that I helped to chose and design. Infact now my children play on it! Ha. funny how life pans out.
Anyway as i was saying, i have been there a few times but never fully appreciated the architecture of the building. Perhaps that is a 'getting older' thing but my goodness it is amazing! We qued to get in this morning and while we were outside I noticed all of the animals in the building itself. Amazing. Fish, Dinosaurs, bears, eagles. Just Stunning.
So we touched and explored almost all of the Museum.
Stood in wonder at the size of some of the animals we saw....
Admired the owls (Lucy loves owls!)...
Tried to explain some quite complex ideas and facts to an interested little girl...
saw the dinosaurs... got scared by the dinosaurs!...
But by far the thing that the girls loved the most was the Blue whale. In fact this is what prompted me to take them to the natural history museum. A few months ago Emily was reading a book about whales and i explained to her that a whale could be as big as a house. This was a lot to take in for a little one and has puzzled her for a while, even to the extent of asking other people if this were really true, was mummy fibbing! Today she saw the true extent of the wonder of mother nature. 'Wow' were the words on her lips.

What struck me was that it was not only the imposing outside of the building that was so beautifully carved, But that every part of the building and the architecture was adorned in these amazing carvings. Every tower and column. It was just everywhere that i turned. Stunning. Weren't those victorians clever. we travelled to the museum on aVictorian train line, took a victorian tube to the museum. Incredible really.
